Tasting Notes

Nose: The nose is beautifully big and complex with notes of blackcurrants, redcurrants, herbs and a hint of forest floor.

Palate: The palate is big and luscious with charming berry flavours and lovely structure, followed by a long finish.

Food Pairings: Try with slow cooked lamb shanks with truffle-infused polenta.

Oak Maturation: 30% new French oak for 20 months.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2027

Story: Rifle and Hunt sounds like the beginning of a tale from an early hunting expedition, but the story is really not that complicated. It’s more like directions rather than a name, with the Pertaringa property being on the corner of Rifle Range and Hunt Roads in McLaren Vale!

Vintage: Spring and summer were cooler than normal with above average rainfall and the 2017 vintage happened much later than usual. The combination of those factors and dry weather for most of the harvest resulted in higher yields and excellent quality across regions.

Alc: 15% TA: 7.51g/L
pH: 3.32 RS: 2.6g/L

Awards: 96pts Wine Showcase Magazine, 95pts Sam Kim, 92pts James Halliday
