VINTAGE AND WINEMAKING NOTES
2016 was a truly distinct vintage. A dry, warm season was punctuated with a tropical rain event in late January. This natural rainfall pushed back harvest dates and allowed for better vine balance during ripening, smaller bunches and tiny berries. The resultant fruit had wonderful thick skins, incredible concentration and excellent varietal identity. Sourced primarily from our mature vineyards in the Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River, this wine also contains one very special parcel of fruit from the more southern Karridale sub-region. Handpicked and cold soaked with a portion of whole bunch fermentation. This wine was aged in a combination of new and seasoned French oak for 12 months which led to lovely, savoury and peppery aromatics that define the unique style of Redbrook Estate Shiraz.
TASTING NOTES
Colour: Deep purple/black with a bright, red rim.
Aroma: Lifted notes of mulberry and plum intertwined with both floral and peppery nuance.
Palate: Medium bodied with great drive and length of flavour. Vibrancy and purity of fruit is at the forefront of the style.
CELLARING
Will show youthful, perfumed notes with fresh fruit flavours upon release. For those after additional complexity and softness, 3+ years bottle age is suggested.
